Brazil impeachment

Dilma Rousseff has been suspended from Brazil's presidency and will face an impeachment trial over accusations that she illegally manipulated government accounts. She will remain suspended for 180 days, while the trial lasts. She denies the allegations, saying they are common practice in Brazil, and has accused her opponents of mounting a coup.

Shas condemned the move to impeach her as a "coup" and a "farce". She was addressing the nation on TV for the first time since senators voted overnight to suspend her for budgetary violations and put her on trial.

Ms Rousseff vowed to fight the "injustice" by all legal means.

Vice-President Michel Temer has now officially taken over as interim leader and has appointed a team.

'Yes' My Country Is Corrupt - Buhari

Muhammadu Buhari was speaking in London after David Cameron described Nigeria, and Afghanistan, as "fantastically corrupt". The President of Nigeria admitted this to Sky News that his country is corrupt.

Asked by Sky News' Diplomatic Editor Dominic Waghorn whether his country was corrupt, he answered: "Yes."

Speaking in London at an anti-corruption event hosted by the Commonwealth Secretariat, Muhammadu Buhari said he would not be expecting the Prime Minister to say sorry.
"I am not going to demand any apology from anybody," he said.

To cheers from Nigerian delegates in the audience, he added: "What would I do with an apology?"

Bye Kampala!!

I miss Kampala already. I miss it's people, scenery and culture. It has been an amazing experience. The weather in Kampala was lovely, the food great and the people warm. What else can one ask for? Uganda is a beautiful country and if you want to visit, please think of donating things such as clothes, books etc to their charities and non governmental organisations.

Cultural experience

Yesterday was one of the most awesome days I had in Kampala. It was so relaxing. We went to Ndere cultural show and it was heavenly. The dancers were out of this world. There were dancers from the different regions of Kampala, dancers from Rwanda and Burundi. I love Africa. I love the traditions and cultures. I pray that Africa will rise again.

The Ndere cultural troup are one of the biggest dance troups you Uganda. We were treated to dance from the different regions in Uganda. We also watched amazing performance by the Burundi and Rwanda performers. This is one of the things you must do when you visit Kampala - go see the Ndere dance troupe.

Absolutely mind blowing performance. A great applaud goes to the MC. He did a fantastic job and held the whole show together.

Here are some of my pictures.

Sunday in Kampala

Happy Sunday all and happy Mother's Day. It is mother's day here in Uganda. I spent my morning visiting the nation's museum. The museum was closed but there was an art and crafts market adjacent to it. I had a wonderful time looking at the amazing arts and crafts and bought loads.

More sights and sounds of Kampala

I am really enjoying my time in Kampala. I am still taking in the beauty of this place. The people are so friendly and are happy to answer ones questions. The weather is simply fantastic at this time of the year even though it is mostly raining season now. I am learning to say simple words in luganda such as 'good morning' and 'thank you'. I am simply loving the sights and sounds of Kampala. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy.

Sights and sounds of Uganda!!

Today was a lovely and sunny day in Kampala. It rained heavily during the night and early morning. My activities today involved a bus tour around Kampala.

Kampala city was previously built on 7 hills but now has cities built on more than 21 hills.

Exploring through the city gave me a sense of belonging. The people are very friendly. I went through different neighborhood- The affluent and the not so affluent. It was interesting going through the different areas in Kampala.

Here are some pictures I took today.
