Tragedy as 30 Manchester United fans electrocuted in Nigeria

I have many Nigerian friends and family members who enjoy watching the football game. Sometimes, you would think the gathering to watch a football match is anything but that, as friends get together at a friend's house to watch the match even though, they could have watched it in the sanctity of their homes. Many people love to gather together to watch the match with friends and then, tease or poke fun at the opposing fans. In my family, my sister is a fan of Arsenal club and my brother, Chelsea club and I, a Man U fan. I know how we used to love to congregate and have a drink, a laugh and just relax watching our favourite club play. I feel so sad to learn that about 30 Nigerians died whilst watching their favourite club play.

Loads of cash - Nigeria's EFCC 'finds $43m in Lagos flat

For a country going through an economic downturn, it seems like there is a lot of cash lying around. This is not the first or second time in the news that the Nigerian EFCC has found a huge amount of cash stashed away somewhere.

This time, more than $43m (£34m) was seized from a flat in Lagos. The money was believed to be from unlawful activity, but no arrests have as yet been made, the agency added.

In March, EFCC said it had found "crispy" banknotes worth $155,000 (£130,000) at the airport in northern Kaduna city.

Apart from US notes worth $43.4m, investigators found nearly £27,800 and some 23m naira ($75,000) at the four-bedroom flat in Lagos's affluent Ikoyi area, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said in a statement.

Where is all these cash coming from?

Trending: Nigeria road safety commander cut hair of female employees!

There was an uproar over photos showing a male commander cutting off women's hair with a pair of scissors at an inspection parade.

How on earth he thought that he had the 'authority' to humiliate grown women baffles me! Hopefully,  he would learn the hard way!  Heh had no right to touch these women, he did not have the right to cut their hair and he absolutely did not have the right to humiliate them.

There are due processes to follow to discipline the women should they have broken the rules - I never knew there was an official ‘hairstyle’.

This is a slap not only to these women but to those who this abuse resonates with. African women are constantly told that their hair is nappy, not good enough to carry in its natural state, kinky, hard and unmanageable. So, some of us put the hair in braids, weaves or wear it like that. Yet, that is not enough!

Then, at work, the hair that you have so nurtured gets chopped off by a male chauvanist!

Note: We wear our hair in braids not only because of looking good but as women that have 101 things to do, keeping the hair in braids or protective styling takes away the massive amount of time spent on styling our natural hair. With braids, we are good to go! Get kids ready, feed them, feed the family, head to work..less time spent on hair!

Look away now if you detest female oppression!

Yes, it happened! Here are some pictures!

Trending: Nigerians Held KLM Flight Carrying Chained, Handcuffed Nigerian For Deportation

The incident was said to have happened on a KLM flight about to depart from Schiphol to Lagos.  The video shows the cuffed man and some passengers demanding that the man in handcuffs be removed from the plane.  From the video you could see some of the passengers shouting and upset the way the deportee was chained as if he was a criminal. The  groups of Nigerians on board the flight pressurised the security officers to leave the flight or else the flight will remain on the ground.

The video can be upsetting. There is a lot of shouting and a man in cuffs!

In 2017, Africans are still being chained and shackled as in the epoch of slave trade. Sad!

Meningitis outbreak in Northern Nigeria - God must hate Africa!

There is an outbreak of Meningitis in some Northern Nigerian states which has claimed hundreds of lives.

According to some reports, there are few or no vaccines in place to curtail this. Then instead of the state governor of Zamfara which is the centre of the outbreak, Abdulaziz Yari, to come up with some intelligent excuse as to why they have not done much about this epidemic, he was reported to have said that the outbreak of Type C meningitis in the country was a direct punishment from God to the people of Nigeria for their various sinful acts.

“People have turned away from God and he has promised that ‘if you do anyhow, you see anyhow’ that is just the cause of this outbreak as far as I am concerned.

“There is no way fornication will be so rampant and God will not send a disease that cannot be cured.”

“The most important thing is for our people to know that their relationship with God is not smooth. All they need to do is repent and everything will be all right”, he said.

Hmmnn,

One problem that needs to be dealt with now is that Nigerians need more educated leaders who base their knowledge and utterance on scientific facts rather than religious sentiments. Imagine what the families of those who lost loved ones would think. That they are being punished by God, same God that they pray to, has come to punish them for their sins of fornication as if they are the only ones that commit fornication.

Some paper reported that the governor denied saying that but believed that diseases are from God!

More needs to be done in the science and technology sector of Nigeria. Nigerians should be producing these vaccines. They have the knowledge and human resources to do this. They just need a government that could put the right environment for people to invest in the country.

Nigerian pilot makes history as first African to fly the world solo!

This news needs to go viral because it is not every day we hear positive news or stories about Nigerians or Africans.

Ademilola “Lola” Odujinrin a 38-year-old pilot arrived successfully completed this historic expedition and now ranks as the 115th person in the world to make this record.

Ademilola says that his motivation for embarking on this expedition was because of his love for not only his country but his continent Africa. Ademilola said, “ to reshape the perception of Nigeria through great achievements that defy expectation and to redefine the African narrative”.

He also said that this is to inspire the youth of Africa to ‘Dare to Dream,’” he goes on to say, “Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of one day flying around the world. We have a responsibility to lead by example and follow our dreams. I want African children to think: ‘I can do this too!’

I hope many Africans will continue to dare to dream, break those stereotypes, dare to be the change that they seek, dare to make a change! If Ademilola can do it, so can you!

Well done Ademilola!

Keto way of life!

I came across this way of life some time ago and became quite interested in it. Keto is incorporating low carbs high fat into your diet. So, you cut off sugar, carbs such as rice, spaghetti, potatoes out of your diet and get your carbs from vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and spinach. You are to eat protein such as meat, poultry and eggs. The idea is that you get your energy from fat rather than carbs and this, in turn, gets your body into a state of ketosis which helps you lose weight.

OK, I was online looking for innovative ideas for lunch time meals and I came across cloud bread. I got the recipe from the web and tried it. It came out really nice. Here are some pictures of my homemade cloud bread.

Ingredients:3 eggs, 3 tablespoons of cream cheese and baking powder.

Procedure: Separate the egg yolks from the white. On a separate bowl, mix egg whites with one spoon of baking powder until fluffy and stiff. On another bowl, mix egg yolks and cream cheese. Then gently pour the egg yolk combination to the egg white and gently fold in ensuring that little air is lost. Now put the baking sheet on a tray and bake for 20 minutes. Your oven may need adjusting depending on how hot it gets.

I made home made a burger with only minced meat and a tiny bit of salt. This meal is for fussy eaters on keto way of life who want to keep it simple.

What simple menus can you suggest?
