Meals I ate in Nigeria!

Fisher man's okra soup
This was absolutely delicious. I had it with amala and it out of this world!

Fried Plantain with fried eggs and meat
I love plantain and this reminded me so much of home.

Moin Moin and fried beef
Absolutely delicious! Moin Moin is made with black-eyed beans and is one of the staple meals Nigerians love.
Plantain and fried eggs

Afang soup
If I could eat this meal every day, I would!

Keto Toastie

I found a recipe for Keto toastie on Youtube and had to try it. Verdict: Delicious!
Ingredients for the Toastie bread are:
1. One egg
2. A cup of almond flour
3. Melted butter
4. Half a teaspoon of baking powder

Mix ingredients and place in a flat container. Microwave for 1minute and cut in half. Put all your keto-friendly fillings and place in a buttered frying pan. Toast each side for few minutes and voila, you have your delicious Keto toastie.

Youtube demonstrates it better and here is the vlog I followed for this recipe: https://youtu.be/FffOTn4eaFI

Enjoy!

Trying Keto

Lately, I have been feeling bloated and tired and really wanted to change my way of life to a healthier one. I read about Keto and started trying it out. I have been on Keto for almost two weeks now and have lost almost 10 pounds. I am now trying to see what other meals I can add to what I have been eating as I am super tired of the cheese, meat and bread. Looking to add soups, salads and more variety of vegetables. I am going to make Nigerian Okra soup this weekend and have it with a vegetable side. It will be much lighter on my stomach.

Yesterday, I saw a bread recipe online and made it. I didn't fully get the baking right but the bread tasted delicious.
Here are some of the pictures of meals I made from recipes I saw online and on Youtube.

                                                                Keto bread
Mushrooms, beef & veggies

Keto buns

Keto flatbread (Burnt it but still tasted yum)
Have you tried Keto before? How did you find it?

Highlights of my stay in Istanbul

I had the most amazing time in Istanbul. I stayed for only 3 days and it was an incredible 3 days, exploring and enjoying the sights and sounds of the city. The people are friendly and very helpful. I walked almost everywhere near the place I was staying in Beyoglu. The food there is amazing and I enjoyed every single meal I had.

One thing that surprised me about the city is its typography. It was quite hilly! I enjoyed the walk up and down the hills and the walk provided some much-needed exercise.

There are so many places to see in Istanbul. I went to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia Museum, took the ferry to the Asian side of the city and went to the Grand Bazaar!

I ended my trip on a high by having the much talked about Hamam (Turkish bath)! My first treat to myself in a long while! The Hamam was one of the highlights of my trip. I felt pampered!

I would definitely want to visit again!

Here are some of the pictures I took.

Happy Mother's day!

Do you celebrate Mother's day or are you one of those, like me, who do not subscribe to having one day in a year to celebrate mothers? Should we not be celebrating our mums everyday?

What does Mother's day mean to you and how do you celebrate it?
