Viola Davis - "The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity". How true is that statement made by Viola Davies? Many people still think that there are no such things as barriers and lack of opportunities for Black Minority Ethnic (BME). In reality, many talented, educated and experienced BME women still face barriers and lack of opportunities. I find that one line in her speech really powerful, not only for BME women but for anyone who has been hitting at the door of success, breakthrough and waiting for an opportunity. It takes just one person to believe in one and open the door of opportunity that will lift one where their talent shines. I hope one day we also learn from this that sometimes, opportunity is given by others but the greatest success will be for us to create that opportunity ourselves.
A big congratulations to Viola. You have shown that you are a woman of great talent and we all celebrate with you!!
