Polish Family's Shed Ruined In xenophobic Attack

A Polish family have had their garden shed destroyed by arson in an attack police are treating as racially motivated.

The shed, which is just metres from the family's home on Blandford Road in Efford, Plymouth, was attacked overnight on Wednesday into Thursday.

The family's eldest daughter Ewa Banaszka, 22, lives nearby with her husband and said her two sisters, 14 and 19, had noticed the flames from an upstairs window and alerted their father Adam.

He had done his best to fight the fire with a garden hose while other family members called the fire service but it was already well alight.

Mrs Banaszka said that her 14-year-old sister had then found a used envelope on the front doorstep and opened it to read the note inside.

It said: "Go back to your f****** country next be your family".
